Patrick Andrew Miller - Missouri House District 108

Patrick Andrew Miller 2024 Missouri Green Party Candidate for MIssouri State House District 108

I grew up in Lake St. Louis, attended Green Tree Elementary, Wentzville Middle School, and Holt High School (2011). I studied philosophy at the University of Notre Dame (BA, 2015) and Princeton University (MA, 2019) with a special interest in how to think and act with limited information. I volunteered at the Global Priorities Institute in Oxford (2017) and worked for the past 2 years at Great Skate Roller Rink in St. Peters as a teacher, DJ, and manager. I am a certified substitute teacher, musician in a local rock band, and active member of my local, childhood church, Dardenne Presbyterian. I hope to one day be an elementary school teacher in the Wentzville School District.

I am running for office because we need political reform. The person who spends the most money shouldn’t always win the election. Money should not control politics. We should love our neighbor, help the needy, and not resort to violence. True leadership looks like humble service. There should be an option on the ballot for someone who serves people, peace, and planet over profit.

I believe we must love our neighbor and love our enemy. I believe we need political reform to value people before money and to choose love instead of hate. We must protect Free Speech and encourage listening and understanding. We must admit when we are wrong and take steps to make amends. We must strive for peace, even at a cost to ourselves. We must leave the world better than we found it and lead by example. We must find common ground rather than causes for division. Our elected officials should represent everyone, not just their supporters. We should be pulling in the same direction rather than pulling apart. We must respect the separation of church and state, and the right of each person to reach their own conclusions about religion, politics, and life. We should show kindness to people we dislike.

41,000 people live in Missouri House District 108, and over 25% are children ages 17 or younger. We have one of the highest median household incomes and the lowest income inequality across Missouri. We have wonderful people, schools, churches, parks, and grocery stores. I hope to meet more and more of my neighbors in Lake St. Louis, Dardenne Prairie, and O’Fallon and to advocate for their needs. I am not raising any funds or making special expenditures. I hope to raise awareness and advocate for ranked choice voting, the abolishment of slavery in Missouri prisons, and reforming a political system that represents lobbyists and special interests more than common people.

There is a light in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. Democracy is a wonderful gift, and I believe that Love will find a way. Please meet a neighbor and show them kindness.
