The Convention Committee, along with the State Coordinating Committee, have been working hard on putting together a great 2017 state convention August 12-13 at the Activity & Recreational Center, 1701 W Ash St, Columbia, MO 65203! Look for the agenda to be posted here by early next week.

PLEASE NOTE: Green Party US National Steering Committee Co-Chair Andrea Merida-Cuellar and Georgia Green Party State Committee Co-Chair & Black Agenda Report co-founder Bruce Dixon will be addressing the convention by Skype instead on August 13th.

The draft bylaws will be emailed to all the members and the chapters this week, with the draft platform to follow. Meanwhile, here are some things happening at the convention for you to consider now:

ACTIVISM!
There will be a period on August 13 for proposing the adoption of statewide political work for the party to endorse and adopt. If you want to make such a proposal, it will help to have your proposal summarized succinctly and have someone willing to be a statewide organizer of this work if it is adopted. When you register for the convention, please let the volunteers checking you in know that you have a proposal for statewide political work.

PARTY OFFICERS!
We will be electing Missouri Green Party organization officers for the year! The officers up for election are Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, and Outreach Coordinator. Their roles and responsibilities are described in our bylaws: https://missourigreenparty.org/bylaws/ If any members would like to run for office for one or several of these positions, please contact us with your name, contact information (address, phone number, email address), the officer positions you want to run for, and a little about yourself that includes how long you’ve been a Green Party voter, why you are a Missouri Green Party member, and why you want to be elected to this officer position. The deadline for submitting your information is Thursday August 10th. You may also indicate at the convention that you want to run for office but you may not get a chance to tell the membership about yourself if you wait till then.

PARTY DELEGATES!
We will also be electing two delegates to the Green Party US National Committee. These delegates will participate in a nationwide email list to make decisions for this national party year round. If you want to run to be a delegate, please contact us by Thursday August 10th with your name, contact information (address, phone number, email address), your work information (employer’s name, your profession, and your job title), your activist background (what activist groups are you active in? Do you hold any positions in these groups? Do you hold positions in any Missouri Green Party chapters? Are you an elected official?), and a little about yourself that includes how long you’ve been a Green Party voter, why you are a Missouri Green Party member, and why you want to be elected to this delegate position. You may also indicate at the convention that you want to run to be a delegate but you may not get a chance to tell the membership about yourself if you wait till then.

NEW PARTY EMBLEM!
One other thing we’re voting on is selecting a new state party emblem to replace the sunflower breaking through bricks that you can see on this website. We want your designs! Please email your designs to [email protected] with your name and contact information by Thursday August 10th. These designs will be voted on by Ranked Choice Voting throughout August 12th and the winner will be announced at the end of day on the 12th.
