The Green Party of Kansas City, Missouri has been asked to promote/endorse the effort of MORE2 to reestablish local City Government control of the Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) by helping to collect the names of 44,000 KCMO voters that support this idea. This list of supporters will then be used to help lobby support for this idea with elected leaders and then potentially as a springboard to a statewide ballot initiative (ala St. Louis) as a way to bypass the elected leaders to gain local control if necessary. MORE2 is the local affiliate of the Gamaliel Network, which is a nationwide, faith-based, progressive, social justice network that says its “mission is to empower ordinary people to effectively participate in the political, environmental, social and economic decisions affecting their lives”.
