KC Socialist Book Club

The Socialist Book Club Discussion Group will continue its exploration of the foundations of American Socialism with a Debs Round Table. Book club members will read a work of Debs and giving a synopsis/critique or analysis

Here is a link to an archive of his writings to read and report on, take your pick:

Writings after 1894 will reflect Debs embracing of socialism while in prison for his participation in the Pullman Railway strike. Debs was a prolific writer, orator and was the most successful champion of socialism America has ever seen. America’s greatest Marxist was noted for his oratory and drew large crowds to his speeches.

Eugene Victor Debs (November 5, 1855 – October 20, 1926) was an American socialist, political activist, trade unionist, one of the founding members of the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW or the Wobblies), Social Democracy of America, the Social Democratic Party of America, and the Socialist Party of America and five time candidate of the Socialist Party of America for President of the United States.
